Meet Rocky! Rocky is a green sea turtle that lives on a popular dive site in Islamorada, FL called “Rocky Top” - he’s become a bit of a local legend over the years. On a dive in 2020 I saw Rocky in his usual spot, but unfortunately found him weak and lethargic. We brought Rocky to the boat and took him to the Turtle Hospital in Marathon, FL where they discovered that he’d eaten a plastic bag – unfortunately a case all too common as turtles easily mistake bags for their jellyfish food. After Rocky passed the bag and got some rest, we took him back to his home at Rocky Top. If you look closely at his portrait, you can see his metal ID tags from the Turtle Hospital. This line was made to honor his resiliency and showcase that our actions affect marine life every day.
